【Editor's Picks】Nittaku “FLYATT CARBON α” / Your reliable partner for leveling up, now renewed!

The ATHENES series: for unusual rubbers, by unusual rubbers, and for unusual rubbers

The FLYATT series has been supported for over 10 years as a racket and rubber that is ideal for helping beginner and intermediate players improve their skills, emphasizing not only spin and speed but also control. Among them, the hit product FLYATT CARBON, a regular fixture near the top of Nittaku’s sales rankings, has been renewed under the name α (Alpha).

Released in 2012, FLYATT CARBON is a racket with outer special material and a moderate rebound, and its hallmarks are a lively sense of speed and a crisp impact sound, while remaining light and highly maneuverable. The new FLYATT CARBON α inherits the characteristics of the previous model while fine-tuning its performance and making minor changes to the design as well.

The blade construction, with ultra-thin carbon on the outer layer, is the same as the previous model, but taking into account the faster Ball and Rally speeds in modern table tennis, α has been designed with a thicker blade. This has improved its Speed performance. Even with the increased rebound, it remains within a range that beginner and intermediate players can handle, and its lightweight, easy-to-use nature remains unchanged.

As for matching rubbers, the recommended choices are the FLYATT EVO and FLYATT Spin inverted rubbers. With the speed-oriented EVO, not only topspins but also direct-hit strokes such as Smashes become easier to execute. With the spin-oriented Spin, it becomes a suitable pairing for players who want to emphasize Rally play built around topspins, as well as finer techniques such as Service and Receive.

The grip also features yellow and blue lines in the same colors as the sponge colors of EVO and Spin, creating a sense of visual unity when FLYATT is attached.

Because it is a racket with relatively little idiosyncrasy, it also has the advantage of making it easy to bring out the performance of the Rubber. Not only EVO and Spin, but if you change the Rubber to suit your growth and playing style, this is a racket that can stay with you for a long time, up to a certain level.

Just like the previous model, the “modernized” FLYATT CARBON α is sure to be loved by many players as a partner that supports their improvement.

The blade is 6.2 mm thick, 0.2 mm thicker than the previous model. The outer carbon is extremely thin.
