Chinese Table Tennis Association issues statement condemning extreme fan misconduct, to introduce a “banned list” for match venues

The statement said that “some extreme fans have repeatedly and persistently subjected coaches and players of the national team to insults, the spread of falsehoods, and personal attacks.” It added that this has “caused serious disruptions to their training, matches, and daily lives, and the association will support the players and coaches involved in filing complaints with the relevant authorities, while pursuing the legal responsibility of those involved.”

The statement also said, “Going forward, we will further promote the creation of an entry-ban list for match venues (an access-ban system) and strengthen order maintenance at venues,” indicating that spectators who engage in disruptive or nuisance behavior at venues may be barred from entry. The Chinese Table Tennis Association has repeatedly issued statements asking fans for “rational and warm support,” but this time it is finally taking concrete action.
