Regain the Spin you lost. A wholehearted sheet used by Duda and Koki Niwa
We asked VICTAS' Research & Development Department!
There are two “tricks” in the naming of this Rubber. One is that although it is called “V>15,” both the pips shape and the topsheet are different from the conventional “V>15” series.
The second is that it is named “Sticky,” which in Japanese means something like “tacky,” but this Rubber does not have that sticky, adhesive feel.
At the beginning of development, it was envisioned as an “adhesive Rubber,” but as samples were refined, it ultimately became a Rubber focused above all on Spin. Since its release in October 2024, it has gradually been gaining users.
If you expect a sticky Rubber, you will be disappointed, but if you try it without any preconceptions, you will be surprised by its Spin performance. In this test play as well, the testers said things like, “It holds the Ball well,” and “The grip is strong and it produces a lot of Spin.”
Let’s look at the comments made last year by Koji Naritomi of Karahashi Table Tennis Yoyogi Store when he tested it. “It gives a natural trajectory, and my impression is that it’s a tension-like adhesive Rubber,” he said. “With adhesive Rubbers, there are types where the surface is sticky and types where adhesive ingredients are mixed into the sheet. I think this Rubber is the latter type; rather than the surface feeling sticky, it’s the kind of Rubber where you feel the adhesive quality when rubbing the Ball.”
We brought it closer to Chinese Rubbers in how the Ball flies, the Impact sound, and Spin performance, while differentiating it from “V>20” (VICTAS)
The VICTAS Research & Development Department explains it this way.
“The topsheet is thick, and the pips are low and large. The density is also close to that of ‘V>20.’ The Sponge hardness is 52.5 degrees, while the ‘Soft’ version in the same series is 47.5 degrees. At first, development was proceeding only with the 52.5-degree version used by Koki Niwa. During development, we also made harder and softer versions, but if we released only the hard version, amateur-level players would shy away from it, so we decided to make and release a ‘Soft’ version separately from the hardness used by top-level players.
After release, the ‘Soft’ version has also been selling, but it seems that many people are using the 52.5-degree ‘V>15 Sticky.’
Originally, we were developing it as a mildly adhesive Rubber that Niwa could use, and we placed importance on how the Ball rises against Backspin. We brought it closer to Chinese Rubbers in how the Ball flies, the Impact sound, and Spin performance, while differentiating it from ‘V>20.’”
At the European Championships held shortly after its release, Benedikt Duda (Germany), using ‘V>15 Sticky,’ defeated Félix Lebrun (France) and Dimitrij Ovtcharov (Germany) to reach the Final, where he finished runner-up. This is a Rubber used by everyone from intermediate players to the world’s top Players. With the introduction of the plastic Ball, why not try this Rubber to help regain the Ball Spin you lost?
