Key Points of Satsuki Odo’s Powerful Two-Handed Swing: “First, Double the Size of Your Swing”

Vol. 2 (Second Half)
As the second half of Satsuki Odo’s power swing feature, Coach Ryusuke Sakamoto explains the key points. He generously shares tips on power swings, including the “contact point for hitting the ball” at impact, “how to use the shoulders” in the backswing, and training methods for striking the ball solidly and thickly.

[Distance from the Table and How to Pull Back the Backswing]
If you’re too close to the Table, you can’t make a big swing. For the backswing, “pull the shoulders horizontally.”

When it comes to the Table tennis Table, swing from this distance. For the backswing, “pull the shoulders horizontally.”

“You don’t need to add Spin” By increasing your swing Speed, Spin will come on the Ball

Power in the forehand topspin depends on both Speed and Spin, but I tell Odo, “You don’t need to try to add Spin; let’s increase your swing Speed.”

This is also greatly influenced by the performance of the mildly tacky tension Rubber that Odo uses on the forehand side. If you swing with the racket face open and strike the upper part of the Ball firmly, you’ll get enough Spin. Instead of a swing that brushes up from below, by contacting the Ball horizontally, you can bring out both Speed and Spin. (Sakamoto)

Open the racket face and contact the upper inside of the Ball as you swing
