The table tennis competition at the Asian Games ended on September 28. In the men's Singles as well as the men's team event, the man who stood in the way of Tomokazu HARIMOTO's bid for a medal was Iran's Noshad Alamiyan (Noshad Alamiyan). The 34-year-old, who switched his playing style from a forehand-dominant to a backhand-dominant one after developing yips, roared at the Asian Games.

Alamiyan's Service sparked buzz online, too

Noshad Alamiyan (Iran), who defeated Tomokazu HARIMOTO in the men's Singles at the Asian Games to win the bronze medal, was born on November 21, 1991, and is 34 years old. He is ranked 344th in the world, but that is only because he has played in relatively few international events, so the number should not be taken at face value. He is the kind of player good enough to win medals at three consecutive Asian Games.

In comments after beating HARIMOTO, he said: "I played HARIMOTO at the Paris Olympics as well, and that was a tough Match too. I lost, but it was a very good contest and very close. Going into this Match, I was convinced I could win. If I hadn't been called for a service fault at a crucial moment in the Match, I might have won more comfortably. HARIMOTO is an excellent player and someone I respect מאוד. I was able to play very well myself, and above all, I'm truly happy."

He has long been known as a player with excellent Service, but in the fourth Game against HARIMOTO he was called for a fault at 13-12. Even when the toss is legal, his Service is powerful enough to be effective, and he spoke about that fault as follows.
