Much has changed in World Championships, but a stage with a 100-year tradition still has an unshakable value. On top of that, I once again felt that it was right for this centennial edition to be a Team Match. A Team Match where the players give everything they have, purely for the honor of their country, is indeed compelling.
“In World Championships, the players around us have a different look in their eyes. I felt that we were fighting on a big stage, and I could sense that every team was trying to fight with even more unity.” That is how Honoka Hashimoto, making her debut in the World Championships Team Match, described her impression of the London event.
